• Biographical or historical data: Khaled Hosseini (en persa: خالد حسینی, pronunciado: Jáled Hosseini; Kabul, Afganistán, 4 de marzo de 1965) es un escritor en lengua inglesa y médico afgano-estadounidense, que se hizo famoso con sus superventas de los libros Cometas en el cielo (2003), Mil soles espléndidos (2007) y Y las montañas hablaron (2013). Biografía Su padre fue diplomático del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de Afganistán y su madre enseñaba persa e Historia en un gran instituto en Kabul. A los cinco años la familia se mudó a Teherán, donde el padre había sido destinado en 1970 en la embajada afgana. Allí permanecieron hasta 1976, cuando este es enviado a París. Ya no podría regresar a Afganistán: en 1978 se produce en ese país la revolución comunista y en diciembre del año siguiente, la intervención soviética.
